If you ask Chris Hough what kind of music he writes you may have to ask two or three times before he even hears you and takes his headphones off. It's not that he's ignoring you - he just loves music. It's that very passion that landed him in front of a keyboard working on a new album for Illegible Records.

Coming from musician parents and playing keyboards for most of his adult life, he first approached it as a lark before finally understanding his talent. At first pairing up with other musicians, Chris eventually continued to work on his own before recently being reinvigorated after a session with other musicians and deciding to join Illegible Records as a solo artist. Prefering an old school synth-heavy sound, he strives for slower grooves with competent drum beats to allow the listener to meditate and reflect with. "There is no set style," he explains "I try to expand all sides of the energy in my sounds" Although his songs may be longer, they are by no means unexciting and Chris revels, as a composer, in the ability to take the audience to new places. Chris Hough's "Polarity Shift" will be released March 18th, 2006.
