Illegible Records - Medicine Crow

Native American tradition portrays the Crow as the keeper of all Natural Law. Regardless of how humans may try to meddle or disturb them, it protects these laws and all true things. While experiencing a dream following a lengthy meditation, Mike Iott received the name "Medicine Crow" and has been known by that title ever since. Whether playing in front of a packed audience or expoloring Existential Truth, you'll know what to call him - all the while knowing that, either way, Mike Iott is Medicine Crow and Medicine Crow flies high in the skies of Illegible Records.

Teaching himself the guitar at the age of twelve, Mike began playing earnestly, but being self-taught, it took him a lifetime to learn what theoried guitar players learn in weeks and months of formal study. Realizing that, though eventually finding his own style, he concentrated on what he is best known for now: song writing. The result produced what could be argued as a sound that is perhaps best summed up as pre-legendary. He adds "I see my music as a vehicle for promoting healing and building community consensus."

The consensus has been good. Medicine Crow, appearing on occasion with fellow Illegible Records artists Ghetto Gas John, Chara Love and Randall Carlson as well as Magdalena's Tea House owner, Miko Fossum in the past, has been turning heads and making a name throughout Michigan the last few years. Lending their combined talents to produce a jaw-dropping show, the common goal is to simply play music since, fortunately, Mike cannot "not" play music. His songs cover a wide range of genres, from folk ballads to blues to lite jazz, with passion for things spiritual and political.

He invites everyone to listen to his music - with a warning and a promise. "I've been a troublemaker all my life. But I'm more inclined to throw pies than stones. In the final analysis, I will have fellowship with anyone who will tolerate my company."

Medicine Crow's "A Much Better Reality" was released in 2006 and his newest album, "Nahnah's Garden" was just recently released in May of 2007 - both proudly on Illegible Records. Go to the PURCHASE page above to get your copies!
