"Before I heard her sing a note, I heard her play the drums" recalls Illegible Records head, Eric Blades as he thinks back on his relationship with label star, Chara Love "she was powerful- if not versatile." Now a few years later, the singer/songwriter trades in her acoustic guitar for a drum kit and pursues her dream as a drummer in the Illegible Records Community Project of Mehr. "For me, drums are an important part of my music," Chara says "I want to represent all of my talents." The project, a collaboration between herself and Blades features her on drums and him on guitar delivering a hard rock/progressive sound tempered with an unlikely source. "To me," says Blades "he was the perfect choice" as he refers to keyboardist and Illegible Records artist, Chris Hough who will provide keyboard parts to the group. As she delivers drums, Chara Love admits this as one of her dreams and all the while Eric Blades looks forward to the challenge "I think this will be exciting for all of our fans to sample" he says. All three are excited to contribute to the group - named after a pet name from Blades - and look forwad to live performances. "It'll be an unconventional way of recording," says Blades, commenting on the process as he prepares to put tracks down after the drums "but I find that inspiring." Look for Mehr summer 2008. |
