Illegible Records - Scribbles & Tones

With an ambitious idea and more than one multi track recorder at his disposal, Illegible Records instrumentalist and producer, Eric Blades set out to marry his two biggest passions: music and writing. Specifically... poetry. At first the project was going to involve just him reading his work with his own music in the background. Problem was, he couldn't stand it. "I'm not a huge fan of my own stuff," he says " and my ego certainly wasn't that big. It's a good thing I know some great writers..."

He certainly does and here he compiles what he refers to as a 'VOLUME 1" of local work entitled 'Scribbles & Tones', a collection of some of Lansing, Michigan's writing, music and artwork. With a planned length of two compact discs, the set already boasts a wide range of writing as well as some interesting contributions from Illegible Records musicians. From nature to God to lost loves, Scribbles & Tones promises to be a truly interesting listen - as well as a site to behold as artwork begins to come in.

Poet Kim Thompson frantically tries to recover her hard-drive-crashed collection from old emails.

Contributor Greg Cabose goes over some of his work before recording.

Look for it early 2006.
